Ajuy Caves are located on the western coast of Fuerteventura and are considered home to some of the oldest geological formations in the Canary Islands. Declared a natural monument, the cave system is made up of sedimentary rock formed deep beneath the ocean millions of years ago, long before the island itself emerged, making it a site of exceptional scientific and natural value.
Set against the Atlantic Ocean, the caves are reached via a coastal path that passes fossilized dunes and historic lime kilns once used by local communities. The dramatic cliffs, dark volcanic sands, and powerful waves create a striking landscape that highlights the raw geological history of the island and makes Ajuy Caves one of Fuerteventura's most distinctive natural attractions.
