The International Kite Festival of Corralejo has been held annually since 1987 in the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, in the north of Fuerteventura. What began as an informal gathering of kite enthusiasts—drawn by the area’s ideal wind conditions and stunning natural setting—has grown into a landmark event on the European festival circuit.
Over more than three decades, the festival has expanded organically and gained international visibility, particularly in countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom. Since 2003, the event has been supported by the Tourism Department of the Municipality of La Oliva, becoming part of the official local events calendar to help promote the island as a tourist destination.
Today, the Corralejo Kite Fest blends tradition, nature, and vibrant color, attracting thousands of visitors and participants who transform the skies of Fuerteventura into a unique visual spectacle every November.
